We have been retained to seek a talented Vice President – Chief Information Officer for our client located in Central Missouri. Our client is a mutual property casualty insurance company that has been in business for more than 140 years and is rated "A-" (Excellent) by AM Best. This mutual organization is recognized as having strong risk-adjusted capitalization and a long-standing market presence. The company is licensed in over 30 states and currently has 5 branch offices writing approximately $250 Million in both commercial and personal lines premium Job Summary / Basic Function and Responsibility Plans, directs and coordinates the Information Technology (IT) Department in the development, procurement, implementation and evaluation of Enterprise Information Technology systems in support of the strategic objectives of the organization. Characteristic Duties Direct the day-to-day operation of the IT department to ensure both new and current technology systems meet or exceed organizational needs, including system design, software development, software and hardware procurement, application architecture, installations, maintenance, security and business continuity. Collaborate with company leadership in establishing information technology priorities in support of business objectives. Direct operational planning to achieve identified objectives, including feasibility studies, securing appropriate resources internally and externally as required and approved as well as risk and security assessment. Remain current on technological developments, evaluating their feasibility and advising company leadership on their competitive and financial impact. Develop innovative solutions, approaches, methods and procedures to meet or exceed user needs and organizational objectives. Responsible for hiring, training and development of IT personnel as well as user training on IT systems. Develop and monitor the IT annual operating and capital budgets. Coordinates and manages outsourced IT resources and vendor providers. Promote strategic relationships between IT department and other internal departments as well as external stakeholders, including agency partners, policyholders, vendors, regulators and other partner organizations. Establish and enforce appropriate service level agreements. Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations including the timely and accurate reporting of bureau, regulatory and statutory data Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in information technology or related field. A Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years previous IT experience in roles of increasing responsibility Minimum of 7 years of management experience Minimum of 5 years of property/casualty insurance IT experience Demonstrated ability to foster and build a dynamic, team-oriented, results-driven environment of accountability and growth Demonstrated ability to deliver IT projects on time and within budget Extensive knowledge of technology and software used in property/casualty insurance industry Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of the IT vendor community Goal-oriented and possesses the ability to prioritize on a consistent basis in an ever-changing environment. Strong customer-service orientation with superior verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with many cross-functional internal and external partners. Collaborative problem-solving skills and a natural investigative mind set. Ability to think conceptually and strategically, while maintaining a results-driven approach. Unquestionable integrity and the ability to handle sensitive issues. Demonstrated a high degree of financial acumen Demonstrated experience benchmarking and implementing “best-in-class” strategies, processes, and programs Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred CPCU designation preferred Experience with core property/casualty system modernization preferred
