Collect, sort, and process payments to the City in a timely and courteous manner. Essential Job Functions Collect, sort, and process payments made in person or by mail for various City utility accounts, invoices, tax bills. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by answering inquiries and referring customers to appropriate departments. Assist with the Citys daily deposit by verifying cash collections and preparing related reports. Ancillary Job Functions Maintain appropriate account and financial records in compliance with Treasury policies and procedures. Ensure that Treasury security policies are being met at all times and report suspicious activity as necessary. Apply relevant policies and procedures of other departments or divisions related to related to payment processing. Perform related duties as assigned. Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in cash-handling or cashiering highly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform the essential job functions is acceptable. Must be eligible to be bonded. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic office equipment/machines including proficiency with 10-key calculator. Familiarity with the basic principles of bookkeeping and financial transactions. Clear verbal communication skills and ability to give and follow written and oral instructions. Strong interpersonal skills in order to provide excellent customer service. Ability to perform basic math calculations for the purpose of processing payments, reconciling statements, updating account balances, etc. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to handle transactions accurately in a fast paced environment with potential for high stress situations. Ability to work under general supervision and make responsible decisions. Ability to use good judgment and act trustworthy while handling large cash transactions. Ability to work extended hours as needed.
